A lady and a gentleman are seated either side of a table in overcoats and hats.

The lady on the left reads an invitation to a ‘Fire Party.’ There is another work of the same subject in the Barber’s collection in a volume of 24 drawings by the artist (No. 44.10 (1-2)).
