Community Outreach

Community Engagement

Art helps us connect with other people and make sense of our experiences. It can inspire and delight us and spark our curiosity.

Our Community Outreach and Engagement sees us working with different community audiences to encourage engagement with our collection, art and each other. Our ongoing focus for this work is improving participant health and well-being through offering creative arts activities in their community setting or through supporting visits to our galleries.

Working in partnership with trained artist facilitators, residents and staff we design resources and workshops that consider personal responses to specific artworks and open up conversations about our everyday experiences to unlock memories and stories. Sessions are participant-led in a way that is appropriate for each setting and each care community will take a unique journey during our time together.

Local partnerships and visits

We love to work collaboratively with local organisations and have a number of ongoing projects and partnerships. Unfortunately all of our group visits to the gallery are currently paused until summer 2024 as our galleries are closed for essential building work however we are still working within local community and healthcare settings.

Please contact us to hear more about our community outreach or to enquire about future visits to us: learning@barber.org.uk.
