Student Workshops: the Barber Write-in Residency – with Writer and Poet Adrian B. Earle

Workshop series

Wednesdays 17 November, 24 November and 1 December

£9 for three sessions, 2 – 4.30pm

Join Birmingham-based writer and poet Adrian B. Earle to ‘reimagine’ the Barber through ekphrastic writing. Ekphrasis is a literary description of art, or a piece of writing inspired by it.

Join us to work words on your Wednesday afternoons to explore the gallery and its stories. In this three-session exploration you will learn about the ekphrastic technique to vividly depict a scene in an artwork. You will weave wonders from the gallery walls, using creative writing to reimagine the space, the art, and its narratives.

These workshops are for students and will take place at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts. They are designed to be attended together as a series and have limited spaces so booking is essential. No writing experience necessary, everything provided.

The 3 sessions, designed as a series, will take place in person, at the Barber, on these dates:

  • Wednesday 17 November, 2 – 4.30pm
  • Wednesday 24 November, 2 – 4.30pm
  • Wednesday 1 December, 2 – 4.30pm
