Colin Currie brings his spellbinding percussion quartet to the CrossCurrents new music festival for an evening celebrating the 90th birthday year of iconic American composer, Steve Reich. From the rich tones of Nagoya Marimbas, the mesmerizing rhythmic phasing of Clapping Music, to the ethereal soundscape of Aileen Sweeney’s Starburst, this concert highlights world-class percussion playing and the exciting variety of sounds and textures on offer. A highlight is the mass community performance of Clapping Music following a public workshop the evening before.
