SYMPOSIUM

The New York of Bellows and Sloan

Discover the New York City of George Bellows and John Sloan, a far cry from the city we see today.

Kicking off with a keynote lecture on Bellows’ Men of the Docks from the National Gallery’s Curator of Post-1800 Paintings, Chris Riopelle, the afternoon will continue with discussions of the intimacy in and around Sloan’s etchings from University of Birmingham academics.
