Portrait Miniatures Discovery Day

This day at contemporary Birmingham gallery Ikon and the Barber Institute looks at the history and contemporary use of portrait miniatures.

Starting at Ikon, we consider new work by Pakistani artist and Deutsche Bank’s Artist of the Year Imran Qureshi, before moving on to the Barber Institute to view his inspiration – Indian and Persian miniatures from the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.

The afternoon session includes an illustrated talk by guest speaker Nick Barnard, Curator, South and South East Asia, at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
