Captivating audiences around the world with playing of ‘tremendous clarity, unfailing musicality and considerable beauty’ (BBC Music Magazine), Russian pianist and ‘poet of the keyboard’ (The Guardian) Pavel Kolesnikov launches this year’s International Piano Festival programme. Expect an immense array of emotional effects on the Barber Concert Hall’s new Steinway grand piano. Beethoven’s impassioned ‘grand’ sonata is matched with masterly counterpoint and French baroque dance music by Couperin, a poignant tryptic of lullabies by Brahms’ and reflective minatures by Tchaikovsky.
