Professor Helen Abbott explores the music inspired by 19th century French poet Charles Baudelaire, from household names such as Debussy to variety cabaret artists. For this, her Inaugural Lecture, Helen is joined by one of the UK’s finest sopranos Mary Bevan, and pianist Joseph Middleton.

We will learn about Helen’s research and its influence on performers as we hear works from Mary and Joseph’s latest album release, and music that Helen has written about in her latest book.
