From Stein to Steinway: 300 years of the piano
Kenneth Hamilton piano
Professor Kenneth Hamilton kicks off the 2017 Birmingham International Piano Festival with an insightful and enthralling guide to the development of the piano. A leading academic, performer, and regular on BBC Radio 3 and 4, Kenneth has shared his passion for authentic performance practice across the globe.
In this lunchtime session he presents the piano collection at the University of Birmingham in a relaxed lecture-recital. Hear him play and discuss the Steinway Concert Grand piano, an 1851 piano made by Erard, the fortepiano, harpsichord, and clavichord, in his own inimitable style.
