Robert Louis Stevenson’s mystical poems on themes of journey and wayfaring inspired Songs of Travel, one of Ralph Vaughan Williams’s most celebrated works. Join award-winning pianist and music historian Ceri Owen in this lecture-recital, tracing a new journey through the cycle by exploring Vaughan Williams’s songs within their wider biographical, literary, and cultural contexts.

This is Ceri Owen’s inaugural lecture-recital as Lecturer and Director of Performance at the University of Birmingham. She is joined by the acclaimed baritone Gareth Brynmor John.
